Employers looking for funds to train their employees should plan on attending a seminar presented by South Florida Workforce on Tuesday, October 9th. The seminar will be held from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon at the One Stop Center which is located at 140 NE 8th Street (Campbell Drive) in Homestead. A light lunch will be served following the presentation.

According to Jose Infante, a Senior Employment Consultant at the One Stop Center, South Florida Workforce has approximately $800,000 available to assist local businesses train their existing workforce. “Employers who identify the need to upgrade the skills of their current workforce can be reimbursed for the training costs. The training can be used to enhance occupational skills, improve employee retention, or qualify employees for higher paying jobs.”

Funds may be used for an existing in-house training program or to support a customized program provided from outside sources. Infante further stated, “Funding will be awarded on a first come, first served basis”. Firms wishing to attend may make reservations by contacting the One Stop Center at 305-242-5373. The event is jointly sponsored by South Florida Workforce, Vision Council and the Economic Development Council of South Miami-Dade.
